Verbena bonariensis (Vervain)
This lovely perennial Verbena grows from three to five feet tall with slender stems topped with rosy lavender clusters that last for a very long time. You might think that something this tall only belongs in the back of the border, but you would be wrong. The foliage of Verbena bonariensis stays low to the ground, and the flowers stems are tall, so this perennial Verbena fits in nicely just about anywhere, giving an almost ethereal effect. Verbena bonariensis is a short-lived perennial, but don't let that deter you from planting it because it's a reliable self-sower. I have had it in my garden for many years, but I have only planted it one time. Full sun. Zones 6-10. Quarts.
