I have always been fond of all varieties of Skullcap, and this native to Asia is no exception. I don't know what is nicer: the rounded, dark green soft leaves or the pretty lavender snapdragon-like flowers, but together they make a very agreeable little plant that is perfect for the rock garden or the front of the border, as this Skullcap only grows to about five inches. Scutellaria indica v. parviflora is a slow spreader, but it blooms spring through fall, particularly if you keep it deadheaded, so even if it is on the demure side, it makes its presence known in a big way. Zones 5-8 in sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil. Quarts.
