Patrinia scabiosifolia, native to Japan and Korea, will brighten a border like nothing else.  The bushy, upright perennial plants with almost neon yellow flower clusters will attract the attention of everyone who sees it, including the butterflies.  Growing to about four feet  (or more) in average soil and sun/part shade, Patrinia is a long bloomer, too.  If the color and long blooming period aren't enough to sway you, Patrinia scabiosifolia is also a reliable spreader and can be divided in spring. This is an old garden favorite and one I'm thrilled to have in my own garden after all this time.  Zones 4-9.  Quarts.
