Nepeta nervosa "Blue Moon" was a pleasant surprise in my seed tray this past winter. I immediately liked it for its foliage: slender, textured, and gray-green. Then, spikes of clear blue flowers (not so evident in the photo) appeared, and I knew I had a winner. The butterflies totally approve and, although I haven't tried the leaves on my cats yet, I expect they will, too. Nepeta nervosa "Blue Moon" forms a dense clump and grows from 12 to 16 inches in full sun and well-drained soil. It is perfect for borders and will continue to bloom if you are mindful about dead-heading. Zones 5-9. Quarts.

This Nepeta from Japan is the showiest catmint I have ever seen. The aromatic leaves of this hardy perennial are bright green and toothed, and the stalks, 20 to 24 inches high, hold large, clear pink flowers that bloom for a very long time and, if cut back after blooming, will rebloom. Nepeta "Sweet Dreams" is deer and rabbit resistant and while not as powerful as catnip, cats still cannot seem to resist it. Full or half sun in Zones 4-9. Quarts
