Prince, Indoor Chief of Staff

Prince came into the greenhouse when he was the size of a postage stamp and has been there ever since - five or six years.  I don't know if he's a girl or a boy toad since I haven't kissed him yet, but he is a loyal friend and assistant,  and he does a pretty good job eating gnats and other annoying creatures.

Shy Thelma - Outdoor Chief of Staff

This is "Shy Thelma," one of a litter of three born to a stray (Little Sugar) who wandered up the path to our house one summer morning.  Today the mother and her three kittens are our prized possessions.  Thelma earns her keep by taking care of things around the greenhouse and keeping me company. I think she's there more than I am.  Perfect for sun, shade, drought or flood, and any zone in the whole wide world.  Sadly, we lost Thelma in 2017 to coyotes.  She will forever be in our hearts.

Annie Mae, Second in Command        Annie Mae  only works part-time at the nursery, but when she works, she really works;  she puts in a full day and then some.  This is Annie Mae on her way to work after Winter Storm Jonas 2016.

Mr. Thomas/aka "Little Yellow Boy"   "Little Yellow Boy" only visits the nursery occasionally, but when he does, he is delightful to be around and most helpful.   Sadly, we lost "Little Yellow Boy" in 2017 to coyotes.  He will forever be in our  hearts, with Thelma, his sister.

Rocket (foreground) and Willy.

These two beauties are my companions every day at the greenhouse and on wildflower expeditions.  They are beautiful,  loyal, and "highly intelligent."
