Ampelaster carolinianus (syn. Aster carolinianus), or Climbing Aster, is a wonderful addition to the fall garden, and who doesn't like an aster?  This native aster is a climbing aster, to boot.  Ampelaster carolinianus grows in full sun to partial shade from six to 15 feet or more and isn't fussy - dry or moist soil will do - and it is drought tolerant.  The alternating, oval leaves and lavender pink, aster-like blooms put on quite a show in late fall, especially if given a support on which to climb.  And wouldn't you know -  it's a bee and butterfly magnet!  Quarts.  Zones (6?) 7-9.
